Afghani value up 17.25 pct against USD in past year

KABUL, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — The value of the Afghan national currency afghani has risen 17.25 percent against the U.S. dollar compared to a year earlier, said Sadiqullah Khalid, first deputy head of Afghanistan’s central bank, on Thursday.
Aiming to recover the currency’s exchange rates against foreign currencies, Afghanistan’s central bank has implemented better monetary policies, Khalid said.
Currently, one dollar equals 70.2 afghani at local foreign exchange market in Afghanistan. ■
